Ingredients

  • ½ cup fresh basil leaves packed (or 2-3 tbsp basil paste)
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 cup mayonnaise store-bought or homemade
  • 1 tbs lemon juice freshly squeezed
  • ¼ tsp Dijon mustard optional, for extra depth
  • ¼ tsp salt or to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1-2 tsp olive oil optional, for a silkier texture

Instructions

  • In a blender or food processor, combine the basil leaves, minced garlic, mayonnaise, lemon juice, Dijon mustard (if using), and salt.
  • Blend until smooth.
  • If the aioli is too thick, drizzle in 1-2 teaspoons of olive oil while blending to achieve a silkier texture.
  • Taste the aioli and adjust the seasoning with additional salt, pepper, or lemon juice as needed.
  • Transfer the aioli to a small bowl, cover, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, to allow the flavours to meld.
  • Serve when ready & enjoy

Notes

  • Refrigeration: Store the basil aioli in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It will stay fresh for up to 3-4 days.
  • Basil Paste: If you don’t have fresh basil, you can substitute with basil paste for a quicker option.
  • Texture Tips: Adjust the olive oil to get the perfect creamy texture, depending on your preference.
