Cheesy Garlic Golden Crumpets
Can I use pre-shredded cheese?

You can, but freshly grated cheese melts way better and gives you that silky, bubbly finish.

What if I don’t have truffle oil?

Totally fine. Just leave it out or add a small squeeze of lemon for brightness.

Can I make these ahead of time?

Yes! Assemble everything, cover, and refrigerate up to 24 hours. Bake when ready.

Notes

Chef’s Tips
  • Lightly toast the crumpets first if you want a crispier base.
  • Freshly grated cheese melts better and gives a gooier top.
  • Season lightly, the cheese and butter bring plenty of salt.
  • For a pop of color, finish with chives or a pinch of smoked paprika.

Storage & Reheating
Leftovers: Keep leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. They  store best when laid flat so the cheese doesn’t stick to the lid.
Reheating:
  • Oven: 325°F (160°C)  for 5–8 minutes until warm and lightly crisp again.
  • Air Fryer: 325°F (160°C) for 3–4 minutes (they crisp beautifully).
  • Avoid microwaving — it makes the crumpets tough and the cheese rubbery.
Freezing: Freeze before baking for best results. Assemble, freeze in a single layer, then pop into a freezer bag. Bake straight from frozen, adding 3–5 extra minutes.
