Equipment
- Dehydrator (optional)
- mandolin
Ingredients
- 4-5 large dill pickles or any pickles of your choice
Instructions
- Using a mandolin, slice them thinly to ensure they dry evenly.
- Dehydrator Method: Arrange the pickle slices on the dehydrator trays in a single layer. Set the dehydrator to 135°F (57°C) and dehydrate for 6-8 hours or until completely dry and crisp.or Oven Method: Preheat your oven to the lowest setting, typically around 170°F (75°C). Place the pickle slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper in a single layer. Leave the oven door slightly ajar to allow moisture to escape. Bake for 3-4 hours, checking regularly until the pickles are dry and crispy.
- Once the pickles are completely dehydrated and crisp, place them in a food processor or spice grinder. Blend until you get a fine powder.
- If you like, you can add garlic powder, onion powder, and dried dill during blending to create a more complex flavour.
- Store the pickle powder in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. It can last for several months if properly stored.
