Pink Lady Apple & Prosciutto
This Pink Lady Apple & Prosciutto Toast is the perfect balance of sweet, salty, creamy, and crunchy—all in one irresistible bite! Juicy Pink Lady apples bring a fresh, crisp sweetness that pairs beautifully with salty prosciutto and creamy Camembert. A touch of grainy mustard adds a bit of zing, while caramelized onions and a drizzle of balsamic glaze bring deep, rich flavor. Whether you serve it as a quick lunch, an elegant appetizer, or a fancy snack, this toast is simple yet seriously delicious.
Ingredients
- 2-4 slices of rye bread or crostini for a lighter bite
- 1 tbsp grainy mustard
- 4-6 slices of prosciutto
- 1 Pink Lady apple thinly sliced
- 4-6 slices of Camembert or Brie depending on preference
- 1 small onion thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp olive oil for caramelizing
- Balsamic glaze or drizzle to finish
- sprinkle salt to finish
Instructions
- Caramelize the Onions:
- In a small pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook slowly, stirring occasionally, for 15-20 minutes until the onions are golden and softened. If they begin to stick, add a little splash of water to loosen them. Once done set aside.
- Toast the rye bread slices in a toaster or on a grill pan until crispy and golden. If using crostini, slice the bread thinly and toast the pieces until they’re crisp and slightly browned.
- Spread a thin layer of grainy mustard on each slice of toasted rye.
- Top with a couple slices of prosciutto, followed by a few thin slices of Pink Lady apple. Add your Camembert or Brie, letting the cheese melt slightly if the toast is warm is perfectly fine.
- Spoon a little of the caramelized onions on top of each toast, then drizzle with a bit of balsamic glaze for sweetness and tang.
- Serve immediately with a sprinkle of salt over the top to enhance the flavours and enjoy!
