Creamy Balsamic Vinaigrette
Enjoy the comforting flavours of this creamy balsamic vinaigrette! This beloved dressing combines the rich flavours of olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and a hint of mayo for extra creaminess. Ingredients
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 3 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 3 tbsp mayonnaise
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp basil paste (see notes for Fresh Basil Paste)
- 2 tbsp water (optional)
- Salt (to taste)
- Freshly ground black pepper (to taste)
Instructions
- In a small mixing bowl, combine olive oil, balsamic vinegar, mayonnaise, pressed garlic, Dijon mustard, brown sugar, and basil paste. (see note #1.)
- Whisk the ingredients together until well combined and smooth.
- Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste, adjusting the seasoning according to your preference.
- Once satisfied with the taste and consistency (see note #2.) serve over your favourite salad. – Try it on my Hit salad.

- Vegan Option: Replace regular mayonnaise with a vegan mayo and swap honey for maple syrup or agave nectar for a fully vegan version.
- Mixing Option: Combine all ingredients in a jar and shake vigorously until well blended.
- Adjust Consistency: If you prefer a thinner dressing, add 1-2 tablespoons of water and mix until the desired consistency is reached.
- Storage: Store the creamy balsamic vinaigrette in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 1-2 weeks.
- Before Use: Shake or stir the dressing before each use, as natural separation may occur over time.
- Serving Suggestion: This dressing pairs wonderfully with green salads, roasted vegetables, or even as a dip for fresh bread.
