
Simple Balsamic Vinaigrette
Making your own balsamic vinaigrette is easier than you think and so much tastier than store-bought versions. You get to control the ingredients, adjusting the sweetness and tang to your liking. By using quality ingredients, you can skip the additives and enjoy a fresher, healthier dressing that brings out the best in any salad.
Equipment

Ingredients
- ยผ cup olive oil
- 3 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard or grainy mustard
- 1 tsp honey (or more to taste)
- 1 clove garlic (minced)
- Kosher salt and black pepper (to taste)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, balsamic vinegar, Dijon mustard, honey, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper in a small bowl.
- Taste and adjust seasoning as necessary.
- Toss your favourite greens/salad with the simple balsamic vinaigrette dressing & enjoy!
Notes
- Mason Jar Method: For an easy and quick way to combine the ingredients, add them to a mason jar, seal the lid, and shake vigorously until the vinaigrette is well mixed.
- Vegan Option: Substitute pure maple syrup or agave for honey for a plant-based version.
- Batching: This recipe can easily be doubled or halved depending on your needs.
- Flavour Enhancements: For added flavor, try incorporating fresh herbs like basil, thyme, rosemary, oregano, parsley, or chives. Finely chop and mix them into the vinaigrette.
- Tip: Fresh herbs add vibrant flavour, but you can also use dried herbs. Since dried herbs are more concentrated, use about โ to ยฝ the amount of fresh herbs.
- Storage: Keep the balsamic vinaigrette in a jar or airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
