Salt and pepperto taste
1tspfresh thyme leavesoptional
1tbspbrown sugaroptional, but recommended, for extra sweetness
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
Core and slice the apples into wedges (about 8-10 wedges per apple). You can leave the skin on for added texture and nutrients.
In a large bowl, toss the apple wedges with melted butter, salt, and pepper. For extra sweet touch, sprinkle in 1 tablespoon of brown sugar and add the fresh thyme leaves (if using) for a hint of herby flavour.
Arrange the apple wedges in a single layer on a baking sheet. Ensure that the apples are not crowded for even roasting.
Roast for about 12 minutes, or until the apples are tender and golden brown on the edges. Stir halfway through to ensure even roasting.
Once roasted, remove from the oven and serve immediately. These roasted apples are perfect along side pork dishes, chicken, or even on their own.
Notes
For extra flavour: Add a splash of apple cider. For a warm twist: Sprinkle in a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg for a cozy, comforting flavour.
